Jay Yi wants to spread the happiness to Fort Bragg.The Korea native and Army veteran, who owns two Happy Delis in Fayetteville, recently opened a third at Stryker Golf Course.The Fort Bragg location became available when Mulligan’s closed. The Yis opened the Stryker Happy Deli on May 2.The restaurant offersbreakfast and lunch seven days a week. The clientele includes the military and civilians.Like at the other locations, Yi’s goal is for customers to leave the restaurant satisfied. “My thing is quality, good service and drive on,” he said. “What else could there be?” Yi came to the United States in 1974. He joined the military upon graduating from high school, working as an engineer. Then he had two sons, Eric Yi (who is a senior @ UNC chapel hill) and Edwin Yi (Who is an E-4 in the Army) Even before he retired from the Army in 1999, Yi and wife Shana were in the restaurant business. They opened Go & Joy’s Pizza and Subs and later the first Happy Deli. The couple run the delis at the courthouse downtown and in the Department of Social Services building.
Breakfast choices include omelettes ($4 to$5), two eggs, grits and toast ($4.75) and French toast ($2.25). For lunch, the sandwich menu includes a BLT ($3.50), club ($6) and tuna salad ($4). A hamburger is $4.25, a barbecue sandwich is $3 and a sausage dog costs $3.Subs, which are $3.75 to $4.75, include chicken fillet, meatball parmesan and steak and cheese. Salad choices include house ($3.50), Greek ($5) and grilled chicken ($5.25).Some of the most popular items are the gyros, Yi said. They can be made with lamb, chicken or beef for $4.50, or $7 for a platter.
Yi tries to have their orders ready in five minutes ”If they have to wait 15 minutes, that’s not going to go,” Yi said. “The military guys have an hour lunch break. That’s why I try to be as fast as possible.”Yi can accommodate parties of up to 120 if reservations are made in advance.

Golf Course Information:he 18-hole “Stryker” course at the Fort Bragg Stryker Golf Course facility in Fort Bragg, North Carolina features 6,625 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 71.2 and it has a slope rating of 119. Designed by Donald Ross, the Stryker golf course opened in 1946. Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command manages this facility, with Jeff Johnson as the PGA Head Golf Professional
